Generally, wheat production per hectare in Bihar is about 45 quintals. Neeraj Kumar Singh, a farmer of Sareva village of Gaya district, has produced 50 to 53 quintals of wheat per hectare. He has set a record in the district. The Agriculture Department had got crop cutting done in his field.
Sowing with zero tillage machine
Neeraj told Local 18 that he had sown wheat in his field with a zero tillage machine. Wheat was sown on 12th December. On the day of sowing, one bag of DAP fertilizer per bigha, urea at the rate of 1 kg per bag, half kg potash per bag and 2.5 kg seeds per bag were sown. Irrigated the seeds on the 22nd day after sowing them in the fields. Sprayed urea, bio zyme and some zinc in the second Patwan. Urea and potash were sprayed in the third Patwan. He said that weedicide was sprayed on the 35th day after sowing the seeds.
Farmer made record
A farmer from Nalanda has made a record in terms of wheat production per hectare in Bihar. He has produced more than 100 quintals of wheat. Apart from this, many farmers of the state have produced more than 50 quintals of wheat per hectare. However, this time Neeraj Kumar Singh of Gaya has also set a record in the district by producing more than 50 quintals of wheat per hectare.
Karan Vandana’s amazing work
District Agriculture Officer Ajay Kumar Singh says that under the Seed Hub, wheat cultivation was done by giving seeds to the farmers on 80% subsidy. Seeds of Karan Vandana variety were made available to the farmers. Crop cutting was done at two places in the presence of Agriculture Department officials, officials, public representatives and farmer advisors. In this, up to 53 quintals of wheat was produced per hectare. Agriculture officer said that there has been good production of wheat of this variety in the district. He has appealed to other farmers of the district to plant wheat of this variety. Now Bihar State Seed Corporation will buy Neeraj’s wheat. Then next year seeds will be given to farmers on subsidy.
